Ferozepur, September 27, 2023: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized Farmers Training Camp with the support of ATMA Scheme at New Grain Market Ferozepur Cantonment organized Farmers Training Camp as a part of giving practical shape to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann and Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudiya. MLA Rajneesh Dahiya, Ferozepur Rural and Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Dhiman attended the event as Chief Guest. Jaswinder Pal Singh Grewal, Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs) was also present on this occasion.
On this occasion, MLA Rajnish Dahiya assured the farmers of different blocks present in the camp that the Punjab government would support the farmers in all aspects of prosperity and every difficult time. He said that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, Chief Minister, is committed to the prosperity of the farmers of the state. He assured the farmers that the government stands shoulder to shoulder with them in every difficulty. He appreciated the efforts being made by the Agriculture Department to provide farmers with technical information about crops.
Appealing to the farmers not to burn the stubble and to contribute in keeping the environment clean by using the machinery provided by the agriculture department on subsidy for the disposal of crop residues, MLA said the farmers should cooperate with the government to bring crop diversity in the district by adopting the varieties and latest farming techniques recommended by the Punjab Agricultural University.
DC Rajesh Dhiman addressing the farmers, said that earth, water, air are special gifts given by nature, the maintenance and protection of which is our primary duty. He told the farmers that in the series of agricultural diversification of rubber crops, it is necessary to encourage sowing in more areas under mustard and vegetable cultivation so that crop diversification can be brought in the district. He assured that the schemes being given by the government for the farmers would be implemented in a different and fair manner.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rajinder Kumar Kamboj gave detailed information to the farmers about the works done by the Department of Agriculture, Ferozepur during the year 2023-24 and said that the department has organized a total of 145 village level, block level and district level camps in the district. The department has provided 4,954 machines on subsidy to the farmers for the maintenance of paddy straw in the fields.
The departmental exhibitions organized in this camp were a major attraction in which exhibitions were mainly organized by Department of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University, Forest Department, Horticulture Department, Milkfed, Markfed, IFFCO, Fisheries and other departments as well as private companies like Apart from Syngenta, Mankind India Pvt. Ltd. Free saplings were distributed to the farmers in view of the goal of making the environment clean by the forest department.
Finally, Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, District Training Officer, Ferozepur, while thanking the guests, department and scientists/officials and farmers assured the PAU that the Department of Agriculture at the University will always continue its services diligently in the interests of the farmers.
On this occasion Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, Chairman Marketing Committee. Balraj Kotora, S. Mani Sandhu, Robby Sandhu, Paramjit Singh Jammu, Lakhvir Singh, Sham Singh Mudka, Gurpreet Singh, officials of the Agriculture Department were also present.
