Hunting Hawks score huge win at Havells Lloyd CGL 2023

Chandigarh, Septembeer 28, 2023: Hunting Hawks had a day to remember as they beat Netsmartz Tigers 6-1 on the second day of the month long Havells Lloyd CGL 2023 being played here at Chandigarh Golf Club. Fairway Comets also got off to a great start with a 5.5-1.5 win over Golf Ninjas in the day’s opening match.
The first tied match of the day was played between The Mulligans & Green Gators as both fought tooth and nail without conceding an inch to each other. Partee Panthers got their players firing on all cylinders as they upset Soaring Eagles 5-2 in a dramatic match.
The Hawks went about their business with a purpose with their first flight as Puneet Dhiman scored a 4&3 win to set the pace in his singles game. Then they proceeded to close out two of their fourball games 5&4 and another two 3&2 with all the playing co-owners winning their games on the day. Only one game went to the final hole which captain SPS Matharoo won 2 Up with Chiranjeev Singh as his partner. With this win, Hunting Hawks go top of the Group C leaderboard.
Earlier in the morning, Fairway Comets made short work of the Golf Ninjas as they won five of the seven games with the anchor game being squared for 5.5 points and within touching distance of the Hawks. The biggest wins of the day for them came from Prithvi Sandhu in the singles and the pair of skipper Raman Singh Gill and Jaideep Singh Grewal along with their penultimate pairing, all winning 4&3.
The Mulligans & Green Gators got their campaigns off to steady starts by splitting the points. Both teams would have felt they left some shots out there and with some clutch moments going their way, either could have made inroads. The biggest win in the match was recorded by Suneet Sehgal & Amandeep Singh Virk who won 5&3 for Green Gators while Bismad Singh scored a 3&1 win in his singles game.
The story of the day was Partee Panthers winning comprehensively against Soaring Eagles with both the singles going their way courtesy Rabiya Gill, who won on the 18th & captain Bhavkaran Singh who won 6&4. Soaring Eagles could only win a single game with Rajiv Moudgill & Ajay Kanwar carding a 5&4 win. The Panthers, boasting the 2013 All India Champion Pratap Atwal, closed out the rest of the games without further damage.
