Commissioner holds meeting with political parties over revision of existing voters list
Ferozepur, December 2, 2023: A special meeting was held by Arun Sekhari, Commissioner Ferozepur Division , with the representatives of various political parties in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024 and regarding the cursory revision of the existing voter list on the basis of eligibility date 1st January 2024 under the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India.
On this occasion Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Dr. Senu Duggal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bamba and Additional Deputy Commissioner Moga Jagwinder Singh and Chand Prakash, Election Tehsildar were also specially present.
Presiding over the meeting Commissioner Arun Sekhari said that the work of cursory revision of the eligibility voter list will continue till 9 December 2023. He discussed with the booth level officers and said that if they have any kind of problem or complaint, they should bring it to his notice so that it can be resolved. The forms filled for any correction should be disposed of on time besides sending a report to this effect.
He said that all EROs should register a maximum number of 18-19 year old youth. He said that claims and objections should be received from the youth who will be 18 years of age on January 1, 2024.
He also appealed to the young voters of the district, especially those who will turn 18 on January 1, 2024, to cast their vote and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections. He said that if one's vote has not been cast, then he can get a new registration by filling Form No. 6 and if someone wants to vote, then Form No. 7, for amendment of particulars, marking as disabled, change of residence or replacement voter card Form no. 8 and voters can fill Form No: 6B to link the card with Aadhaar Card.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner also checked the special camp at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical University and many polling booths of the district including Cantonment Board office and directed them to ensure proper cleanliness of booths. He told the booth level officers that all the help should be given to the people of the district who come to the polling booths to cast their votes or to get amendments etc. He said that they should be assisted in every task from filling the form so that no district resident is deprived of casting his vote. Meanwhile, he appealed to the residents of the district to make maximum use of the polling booths to be set up in the district today and tomorrow.
