Chandigarh, December 3, 2023: The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, a member of the National Congress Working Committee, and former Union Minister Kumari Selja said that the BJP-JJP alliance government is entirely regressive and anti-consignor farmer and labor.
To harass these three groups, the government repeatedly adopts new tactics. Disturbing these groups has become part of the government's policies. The state government, which has failed to compensate farmers for losses due to floods and to settle claims under the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme, has now also stopped the commission of consignors while labor wages are not being released.
In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that the government had stopped the government procurement of paddy in the state 20-25 days ago. Despite this, regressive forces are pressing the government for their commission.
On the other hand, laborers who sweat from harvesting to loading and unloading, hoping for wages, are also sitting idle as the coalition government of the state has not issued wages.
Kumari Selja warned the state government, stating that all commissions and wages, along with interest, should be paid to all consignor commissions and laborers within 48 hours so that their livelihood continues.
She said that farmers in the state have not received compensation for the damaged crops due to floods in July. While farmers' organizations have raised their voices for this several times, the BJP government is playing with the sentiments of farmers with its authoritarian attitude.
Selja said that BJP leaders had made big promises to farmers during the visits to the flood-affected areas in districts like Ambala, Hisar, Gurugram, Jind, Karnal, Mahendragarh, and Sonipat in Kaleshtar-2.
However, the state government has not been able to get insurance for their crops under the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme from any insurance company. In Sirsa and Hisar alone, farmers are owed over 4,000 crores by insurance companies for the previous crops.
Farmers in Sirsa and Hisar have already set up a strong front. The former Union Minister said that the BJP-JJP alliance government aims to eliminate agriculture by harassing farmers, labourers, and Consignors.
The government wants these groups to be constantly harassed so that their attraction to agriculture diminishes, and then the entry of big businessmen, friends of the central government, can be facilitated in this large field of agriculture.
Kumari Selja said that the three black agricultural laws were also brought by the central government for this reason. However, after the opposition, they had to be withdrawn. But now the government is finding new ways to harass farmers,Consignors, and laborers. Due to the contrary policies of the BJP government, the class is unhappy today, regretting the vote cast in favour of the BJP in 2014. The mood of the people of the country and the state has turned against the BJP, and the public is fully prepared to show the way out of power in the upcoming elections by voting against the BJP.
