Vet Varsity Professor honoured at International Conference on Fermented Foods

Ludhiana, December 5, 2023: Dr. Pranav K. Singh, Associate Professor, College of Dairy Science & Technology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, bagged the award for best paper presentation at 11th International Conference on Fermented Foods, Health Status and Social Well-being.
The conference was jointly organized by the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, in association with the Swedish South Asian Network on Fermented Foods. It was attended by many eminent scientists from India, Japan, Thailand, and Sweden besides the industry personnel.
Dr. Singh presented his paper on ‘Nanobubbles – A Promising Technology for their Application in Fermented Dairy Foods’. Elaborating on the key research findings, he said that nanobubble technology can be employed to hasten or slow down the fermentation time in an industrial environment besides improving the quality attributes of fermented dairy foods like dahi, yoghurt, etc.
Dr. R.S. Sethi, Dean College of Dairy Science & Technology, congratulated Dr. Pranav K. Singh and his team members Dr S.K. Mishra and Ms. Shefali Shirame who also attended this conference and presented their research findings on nanobubble technology. Dr Sethi elaborated that this research was conducted in collaboration with Dr Neelkanth Nirmalkar from IIT Ropar.
Dr JPS Gill, Director of Research informed that nanotechnology is an emerging field with immense potential for its applications in Dairy and Food Science and applauded Dr Singh and his team for bringing this laurel. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor said that this achievement is a testament to the impactful contributions researchers can make.
He said that addressing challenges and driving innovation in critical areas such as food science is the need of the hour. As the findings gain traction, the integration of nanobubbles in dairy production may very well become a cornerstone of the next wave of advancements in the global dairy industry.
