Qadian/10 December 2023 - After Javaria from Karachi (Pakistan) arrived in India, another Pakistani womna, Maria Bibi, a resident of Sheikhupura, requested the Indian government to grant her a visa for getting married to Sonu Masih, a resident of the village Sathyali Dakkakhana Nano Kot, District Gurdaspur near Qadian.
Reportedly, she came in contact with Sonu four years ago through Facebook. After the consent of their parents, they decided to get married.
Maria Bibi's fiance Sonu Masih said that for the first time, he came to Sri Kartarpur Sahib with his parents after the relationship was fixed.
Sonu Masih had to verify the sponsorship certificate and send it to Pakistan to invite the fiancé. No gazetted officer was reportedly ready to verify it. According to the rules of the Ministry of Home Affairs, if any person from India wants to invite someone from Pakistan, then it is necessary to attach the official ID card of the sponsoring Indian to the visa file along with the verification of the Indian person by the gazetted officer. The government of India does not approve notarized sponsorship.
Sonu Masih said that Aam Aadmi Party leader Jagroop Singh Sekhwan helped him in this matter. Kulwant Singh, a member of BDP, verified the sponsorship of Masih and also gave a photocopy of the I card, when his sponsorship certificate was ready, he again went to Sri Kartarpur Sahib where he met his fiance.
He said that recently his fiancee Maria Bibi went to Visatronics Center Lahore to submit her Indian visa form but due to some loophole, her file is not being uploaded. Now she will again apply for an Indian visa on Monday. Sonu Masih has demanded from the Indian government that his fiancee should be given a visa to India.
Sonu Masih and Maria Bibi have also contacted social worker and journalist Maqbool Ahmed for help in this matter. It is worth mentioning that Maqbool Ahmed has helped many couples so far.
