Chandigarh, February 23, 2024: The General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, former President of Haryana Congress, and in-charge of Uttarakhand, Kumari Selja said that due to the arbitrariness of officials and the flawed intent of the government, Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Scheme are becoming a problem for the poor.
Initially, one has to struggle to get the card made, and later, hospitals refuse to treat patients with the card. Although there is a provision to make payments to hospitals within 15 days, payments are not being made even after six months.
If payments are made, they include arbitrary cuts ranging from 50 to 90 percent. In this context, how can the government talk about a corruption-free administration?
In a statement released to the media, Kumari Selja said that the free treatment under the Bjp-Jjp alliance government in Haryana has become a problem for the residents.
Initially, the poor have to wander from one office to another for months to get the card made, and then they have to face troubles at hospitals for treatment. Even if someone manages to get treatment, the government takes a long time to make payments.
According to the contract, the hospital should be paid within fifteen days of the patient's discharge, and any delay should include interest payments.
However, not only is there no interest paid, but the principal amount is also being arbitrarily cut. This is why private hospitals are hesitating to treat cardholders.
The central government does not forget to mention the Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Scheme in its promises, but it has completely forgotten to implement these schemes. It's a common discussion among the public that the BJP government finds ways to commit scams and frauds in every department.
She said that the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has already expressed serious objections. The health department officials overseeing Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Scheme are not making payments for bills for up to six months, and when they do, they cut them arbitrarily by 50 to 90 percent.
These schemes are being touted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal as guarantees for affordable treatment, but the officials have completely disregarded this guarantee.
Meanwhile, IMA Haryana has warned the government that if timely payment of bills and the cessation of arbitrary cuts are not ensured, they will stop treating patients under these two schemes.
Kumari Selja said that whether it's the central government or the state government, both have become governments of mere promises.
Kumari Selja said that if transparency is not brought into these two schemes, private hospitals will definitely stop treating patients, and this will directly affect the public.
