Thakur, Khinda hold meeting with traders in Ferozepur, assures to solve problems on priority
Ferozepur February 26, 2024:Under the Aap Di Sarkar Aap De Door campaign by the Punjab Government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anil Thakur, Chairman of Punjab State Traders Commission and Shaminder Singh Khinda, Chairman of Punjab Agro, held a meeting with the traders, industrialists and entrepreneurs of Ferozepur district and discussed their problems and shared ideas. Neel Garg, Chairman of the Punjab Medium Industry Development Board was also specially present on this occasion.
Anil Thakur said that the old balance of less than Rs.1 lakh has been waived completely by the Punjab government under the free settlement scheme. While a discount has also been given regarding the balance from Rs.One to One Cr and to avail the benefit of this scheme the respective defaulters can first contact the department before March 15.
He said that if a trader receives a notice, it does not mean that the trader or shopkeeper is guilty, rather he is given full opportunity to present his side, and if the trader's side is right, such notice is withdrawn. He said that the departments have been instructed not to harass traders and industries without any reason. He also appealed on this occasion that a fixed bill must be given at the time of sale of goods. On the demand of the traders, he said that a waiting area will be prepared in the GST offices and an advisory committee of Ferozepur district will also be formed, which will include representatives of all classes of traders.
Shaminder Singh Khinda, Chairman of Punjab Agro, said that the purpose of such meetings is to understand the problems of the traders and according to their suggestions, the government will make decisions. He said that Punjab Agro is determined to protect the interests of Punjab. He said that when discussions are held among themselves, many problems are solved at the lower level. He said that dues under the OTS scheme have also been waived.
Neel Garg, Chairman of Punjab MIDB said that farmers are food givers and traders are taxpayers. He said that the government is making efforts to properly solve all your problems and if any trader faces any problem then they can contact them.
Commission member Atul Nagpal, Secretary Arun Wadhwa, Assistant Commissioner State Tax, Gulshan Huria, STO Rajni Devgan, Gurpreet Singh, Abhishek Arora, representatives of various traders and industrialists' organizations and lawyers of the district were present.
