1,37,846 MTs wheat procured in Ferozepur, DC appeals not to burn crop residues
Payments to farmers being made within 24 hrs
Ferozepur, April 22, 2024: During his visit to various procurement centres in the district, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman, reviewed the procurement arrangements and speed up the lifting of wheat stocks in the mandis along with an appeal to the farmers not to burn crop residues when they go back to their fields for sowing of next crop.
DC said, each grain within the prescribed limit of moisture will be procured and farmers, arthias, and labourers will not face any kind of problem during the entire season. He said, that during my visit, the farmers expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in the mandis.
He further said, that 1,59,626 MTs of wheat had arrived in all markets of Ferozepur till last evening, out of which 1,37,846 MTs of wheat had been purchased. He said that the payment of the purchased crop is being made in the farmers' accounts within 24 hours. He said that out of the total wheat purchased so far, 45,326 MTs by Pangrain, 32,955 MTs by Markfed, 37,450 MTs by PUNSUP, 19,285 MTs by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, and 2,830 metric tons of wheat have been purchased from private traders.
He also appealed to the farmers to bring the crop completely dry to avoid wastage in the market and not to burn the residue and mix it in the fields so that pollution can be prevented and a clean and healthy environment is created.
On this occasion, DFSC Raj Rishi Mehra, GM Warehouse I.B. Tiwari, D.M. Markfed Kamaldeep Singh, RTA Karanveer Singh Chhina, Aartiya Association President Sanjeev Kumar, Truck Union President, Labor/Cartridge Contractors were also present.
