2.60 lac MTs wheat procured, Rs.437.89 Cr payment released in farmers’ account
MD Markfed, DC visit Ferozepur mandis, review wheat purchase, lifting, payment operations
Ferozepur, April 24, 2024: Amid the ongoing procurement of wheat in the state, Managing Director Markifed Girish Dayalan and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman visited various procurement centres of the district including Talwandi Bhai to review the procurement, lifting, payment operations and arrangements made in the grain markets, for the farmers.
Issuing necessary guidelines to the officials, Dayalan and Dhiman interacted with the officials of all procurement agencies to get information regarding the procurement arrangements. He also interacted with farmers, farmers and workers.
The procurement agencies officials were asked to speed up the lifting work so that farmers may not feel any kind of problem in dumping the fresh arrivals, besides monitoring the progress on day today basis. The farmers were also appealed to bring the crop completely dry to avoid wastage in the market.
In Ferozepur, 2,81,703 MTs of wheat have arrived in the markets of the Ferozepur district till last evening, out of which 2,60,689 MTs of wheat have been purchased by various procurement agencies. He said that the payment of the purchased crop is being made in the farmers' accounts within the stipulated time and so far an amount of Rs. 473.89 crore has been transferred to the farmers' accounts, said DC.
He further said the break-up of purchase is 76,073 MTs by Pangrain, 77,086 MTs by Markfed, 67,695 MTs by Pansap, 36,835 MTs by PSWC and around 3,000 MTs by the private traders.
On this occasion, DFSC Raj Rishi Mehra, DM Markfed Kamaldeep Singh, DMO Aslam Muhammad, DM PUNSUP Manav Jindal, and AFSO Shama Goyal were also present.
