Municipal Council celebrates International Youth Day with educational initiatives
Ferozepur, August 12, 2024:The Ferozepur Municipal Council, in collaboration with Har Bhagwan Memorial School, celebrated International Youth Day following the directives of
Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC) Chandigarh and the Punjab Government.
On this occasion, students from the school were taken on an educational tour of the waste processing plant. They were informed about various aspects of solid waste management, including the handling of wet waste through compost pits designed by the Nagar Council, which converts organic waste into compost. Additionally, the students were shown the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) plant where dry waste is processed, and they learned about the recycling of plastics.
Rinku Grover, President, Municipal Council said, the program also aimed to inspire students to lead sustainable futures, encouraging them to avoid single-use plastics, adopt zero-waste lifestyles, and promote waste segregation.
Key figures in attendance included Chief Sanitary Inspector Gurinder Singh, Principal Ajit Kumar, Program Coordinator Simranjeet Singh, and the entire team of motivators.
