All Opposition Parties Arrive for All-Party Meeting on Punjab’s Water Crisis

Chandigarh, May 2, 2025 – All major opposition parties have arrived at Punjab Bhawan to participate in the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on the pressing issue of Punjab’s water rights. The meeting, aimed at forming a united front against the alleged central encroachment on the state’s water resources, is now underway.
Representing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party are CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP Punjab president Aman Arora. From the Shiromani Akali Dal, Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema are present. The Congress delegation includes Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Rana KP Singh, while Sunil Jakhar and Manoranjan Kalia are attending on behalf of the BJP. Dr. Nachhatar Pal is representing the Bahujan Samaj Party.
The agenda includes discussions on the alleged misuse of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the unauthorized allocation of Punjab’s water to Haryana. The state government has also announced a special Vidhan Sabha session on Monday to table a resolution on the issue.
