Canada: North Bay, Ontario unveils list of 25 in-demand occupations for PR

North Bay, Ontario – May 2, 2025: The city of North Bay has officially released its list of 25 priority occupations under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP), offering a key pathway to permanent residency for foreign workers.
The RNIP is a community-driven immigration program that allows rural communities in Canada to attract and retain skilled talent by offering permanent residence to eligible foreign workers who have secured a job offer from a designated local employer.
Under the program, each participating community may identify five priority sectors to focus on. North Bay has selected the following sectors:
- Business, Finance, and Administration
- Health
- Education, Law, Social, Community, and Government Services
- Sales and Service
- Trades and Transport
Within these sectors, North Bay has approved a list of occupations eligible under the RCIP. Here are some of the key roles:
- Accounting Technicians and Bookkeepers (NOC 12200)
- Administrative Assistants (NOC 13110)
- Aircraft Mechanics and Inspectors (NOC 72404)
- Automotive Service Technicians and Mechanics (NOC 72410)
- Banking and Financial Clerks (NOC 14201)
- Carpenters (NOC 72310)
- Construction Labourers (NOC 75110)
- Corporate Sales Managers (NOC 60010)
- Dental Assistants (NOC 33100)
- Early Childhood Educators (NOC 42202)
- Electricians (NOC 72200)
- Elementary and Secondary School Assistants (NOC 43100)
- Financial Auditors and Accountants (NOC 11100)
- HVAC Mechanics (NOC 72402)
- Home Support Workers and Caregivers (NOC 44101)
- Hotel Front Desk Clerks (NOC 64314)
- Human Resources Professionals (NOC 11200)
- Machinists and Inspectors (NOC 72100)
- Nurse Aides and Orderlies (NOC 33102)
- Pharmacy Assistants (NOC 33103)
- Registered Nurses and Psychiatric Nurses (NOC 31301)
- Security Guards (NOC 64410)
- Shippers and Receivers (NOC 14400)
- Social and Community Service Workers (NOC 42201)
- Welders and Machine Operators (NOC 72106)
These sectors will form the basis for employer designation and job eligibility under the program. Only employers operating within these identified sectors can become designated to recruit foreign workers through RNIP.
Located in Northern Ontario, North Bay’s RNIP jurisdiction includes the Districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound as well as the Town of Latchford.The list of 25 eligible occupations reflects local labour market needs and is critical to the program’s implementation.
Once an employer in one of the designated sectors becomes approved, they can issue job offers to foreign nationals, who may then apply for Canadian permanent residence through RNIP.
