Patiala (Punjab), May 2, 2025: The Patiala district administration has completed 100 percent lifting of wheat procured in six major grain markets during the ongoing Rabi season.
Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav said that lifting operations in the remaining mandis have been expedited and the district is on track to complete its overall procurement target within the coming week.
Dr. Yadav assured that despite last night’s rainfall, there has been no waterlogging reported in any mandi, nor any instance of wheat getting soaked.
“All wheat bags were properly covered in advance based on weather alerts, and no damage to the grain has been reported,” she said.The SDMs of all sub-divisions visited their respective mandis to inspect and ensure proper arrangements were in place.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the mandis at Sultanpur Chhanna, Devinagar, Babarpur, Ratanheri, Mandour, and Bhojomajri have witnessed 100 percent lifting of procured wheat.
She added that against the estimated target of 9,17,230 metric tonnes for the 2025-26 procurement season, a total of 9,01,846 metric tonnes has already been procured.
So far, payments amounting to Rs. 2016.21 crore have been made to farmers for the procured wheat. Till last evening, the total arrival of wheat in Patiala mandis stood at 9,06,511 metric tonnes, out of which 9,01,846 metric tonnes have been procured.
Sharing agency-wise procurement details, Dr. Preeti Yadav said that PUNGRAIN 2,91,016 metric tonnes, MARKFED 2,25,255 metric tonnes, PUNSUP 1,87,725 metric tonnes, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 1,28,867 metric tonnes and Private Traders purchased 68,983 metric tonnes.
