India closes Kartapur Sahib corridor after Operation Sindoor, major security step taken
By Mehak Arora
Chandigarh, May 7, 2025: India has given a strong response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Around 1 AM last night, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, destroying nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan.
In light of security concerns, India has now suspended pilgrimages through the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
Pakistan has also closed all routes of the Kartarpur Corridor as a precaution. According to reports, this decision will remain in effect until further notice. The move aims to ensure the safety of both Indian and Pakistani pilgrims.
Notably, the Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib, located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, is one of the holiest sites for Sikhs. Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last 18 years of his life here, and every year, lakhs of devotees visit the shrine to offer prayers.
However, with the closure of the corridor, pilgrim visits have now been affected. Considering the rising tensions between the two countries and the prevailing security situation, Pakistan has taken this crucial step.
