Punjab Education Minister ensures student safety, no penalty for returning home amidst security concerns

Chandigarh, May 10, 2025 — In response to the ongoing security concerns, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has issued a directive to all universities and colleges across the state, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
The minister stated that no student should be compelled to leave campus if they are unable or unwilling to do so due to safety concerns, transportation issues, or personal reasons.
Bains emphasized that educational institutions are required to provide food, shelter, and necessary care until the last student remains on campus.Furthermore, he made it clear that exams should not be used as a reason to force students to stay.
Students returning home will not face any academic penalties, and universities are to offer rescheduling or alternative options for assessments.
