License of border village medical store cancelled after banned drugs seized
Ferozepur, May 13, 2025: In a strict action under Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign 'War Against Drugs', the Zonal Licensing Authority has cancelled the license of Jassi Medical Store located in Gatti Rajo Ke following the recovery of banned medicines.
Providing details, Drug Inspector Sonia Gupta said that continuous checks are being conducted across the district to curb the sale of narcotics, banned, and illegal medicines. During one such inspection, banned drugs – 1,080 tablets of Tapentadol and Abapentin valuing Rs.30,300 - were found at Jassi Medical Store, prompting the Zonal Licensing Authority, Lakhwinder Singh, to revoke its license.
She added that under the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, the anti-drug drive is being actively enforced across the district.
Medical shop owners have been strictly warned against selling banned substances or dispensing any medicine, injection, or syringe without a valid doctor’s prescription. They have also been instructed to maintain complete records of all medicines purchased and sold.
