Ferozepur Jail breach deepens with 15 mobiles recovered, 15 inmates booked
Ferozepur, August 2, 2025: During a surprise search operation conducted inside Ferozepur Central Jail, authorities recovered 15 mobile phones from various inmates.
Mobile is the most wanted among the prohibited items to remain in touch with the outer world, with family members and for illegal purposes, making extortion and threatening calls. Even probing the tracked calls by taking the prisoner on remand is free from a security point of view, and hence, only in high-profile cases, the matter ends with the seizure of mobiles during the search operations.
Not only this, even the banned substance was cleverly hidden inside the collar of a shirt and was reportedly handed over by his brother Kuldeep Singh to his jailed brother, during the visitation – Mulaqat.
Alarming figures reveal that a staggering total of 328 mobiles, besides other banned items, have been recovered from January to July this year alone, including the recent recovery of 15 mobiles during August from within the prison.
The search was conducted under the supervision of the Superintendent of Jail, Ferozepur. The inmates booked include – undertrial Shamsher Singh, Jagtar Singh, Baljinderjit Singh, Vikramjit Singh, Sandeep Singh, Amritpal Singh, Shivam Sehgal, Dharampreet, Vicky, Varinder Singh, Ashok Singh, Angrez Singh, Solav Singh, Sandeepl Singh alias Seepu and Sukhchain Singh alias Lucky.
These mobile phones were discovered in various barracks, including barracks 1, 2, and 4, on the night of July 29–30, 2025. A total of 15 devices were found concealed in various locations inside the barracks.
The recovery has raised concerns over the security and surveillance system within the prison. Jail officials have initiated further inquiry, and measures are being tightened to prevent such incidents in the future.
Following the seizure, cases have been registered under the 52A Prisons Act against 15 prisoners and further investigations are on.
