DC leads ground inspections, says no need to panic, Sutlej under control
Ferozepur, August 20, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Deepsikha Sharma continued her field visits to villages along the Sutlej River, inspecting embankments at Dhira Ghara and Alewala to review their strength. She was accompanied by Ferozepur SDM Gurmeet Singh during the inspection.
The DC informed that while the water level in the Sutlej has risen slightly, it continues to flow out steadily, and the situation remains fully under control. She recalled that during her earlier visit to Tendi Wala village, Drainage Department officials were directed to strengthen the embankments with soil-filled bags. Today, with the cooperation of villagers, these reinforcements have been successfully put in place.
DC also interacted with residents of Dhira Ghara and Alewala, who highlighted the need for a special veterinary camp. Instructions have been issued to the Animal Husbandry Department to address this. She added that the administration is fully alert, with SDMs keeping constant watch from Harike Headworks to Guru Har Sahai.
Medical camps have already been set up in villages including Qutbuddin Wala, Nihala Lavera, and Navi Gatti Rajo Ke to provide immediate health assistance. The DC assured villagers that there is no cause for panic and advised that, if needed, people can directly contact the district administration at helpline number 01632-244017.
