Chandigarh, October 1, 2025 – The Punjabi Literary Society, School of Punjabi Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized a poetry symposium today in memory of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh.
The event opened with remarks by senior professor Dr. Sarbjit Singh, who highlighted Bhagat Singh’s life and urged students to see him not merely as a revolutionary, but as a profound intellectual. He stressed that understanding Bhagat Singh’s ideas can help today’s youth cultivate sharper and more mature thinking.
Faculty member Dr. Paramjit Kaur Sidhu congratulated students for hosting the event. Department head Prof. Yog Raj Angrish praised the initiative, emphasizing that revolutionary thinking like Bhagat Singh’s is vital in contemporary times. He called such programs essential in connecting students with the enduring values of freedom and justice.
Students of the department, including Sukhdeep Singh, Mandeep Kaur, Sukhpal Singh, Amandeep Kaur, Gurman Singh, Daya Singh, and Rajveer Singh, presented stirring poems dedicated to the martyr. Daya Singh also conducted the program. The symposium saw enthusiastic participation from students and research scholars, making it a resounding success.
