State stands with flood victims: Minister Goyal reviews relief in Ferozepur villages

Ferozepur, August 21, 2025: Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Goyal on Thursday assured that the state government stands firmly with the flood-affected people—from crop losses and medicines to strengthening embankments and providing every possible assistance.
During his visit to the affected villages of Tendi Wala, Ghazniwala, and Dheera Ghara in Ferozepur district, Goel emphasized that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is personally monitoring the relief efforts across the state. “The Punjab government will fully compensate farmers and residents for their losses,” he said.
Accompanied by MLAs Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Rajneesh Kumar Dahiya, and Fauja Singh Sarari, the minister informed that eight cabinet ministers have been assigned to supervise relief operations in different districts to ensure direct outreach to affected families. Villages have been divided into sectors, with officers tasked with delivering prompt support on the ground.
Goyal highlighted that top priorities include relocating residents to safe shelters, providing health care, food supplies, and safeguarding livestock. He personally interacted with affected families, listened to their concerns, and directed officials to deliver immediate assistance.
Reviewing flood-prevention measures, Goyal said that the Punjab government has already spent Rs. 276 crore on flood control works, and soil-filled bags have been placed along embankments for emergency use.
Earlier, at Hussainiwala Headworks, Goyal held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Deepsikha Sharma, SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, Chief Engineer Hardeep Singh Mendiratta, and other officials to review ongoing relief operations.
Senior district officers, including SDMs Gurmeet Singh and Udeydeep Singh Sidhu, along with officials from multiple departments and village residents, were present during the visit.
