Over 3,400 rescued as NDRF, BSF lead ongoing flood relief in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, September 1, 2025: Relief and rescue operations are in full swing across flood-affected areas of Ferozepur district as administrative teams, supported by the Army, NDRF, BSF, and Punjab Police, continue to provide assistance to affected families. Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma informed that around 28,240 people in 112 villages have been impacted by the rising waters of the Sutlej river. So far, 3,410 people have been rescued from marooned areas.
The DC said that relief camps have been set up where displaced families are being provided food, shelter, and medical care. Dry ration and fodder for livestock are also being distributed. At Bare Ke Government School camp, over 250 evacuees are receiving meals thrice a day along with healthcare facilities.
She added that 10 life jackets and a boat were provided at village Habib Ke to aid rescue efforts, while embankments in villages like Rukne Wala and Mehmood Wala have been reinforced with sandbags to prevent further flooding. Medical camps have been organised in several affected villages, including Bagge Wala, Fatte Wala, Nihala Lavera, Jallo Ke, and Fatehgarh Sabrah. Livestock care teams are also deployed to provide treatment and fodder supplies.
