Punjab Govt, Ministers, people united in combating flood fury, Relief and rescue operations in full swing

Chandigarh, September 7, 2025 – In the face of Punjab’s devastating floods, the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government, its Cabinet Ministers, and citizens are working hand in hand to strengthen embankments, deliver relief, and ensure no affected family is left behind.
Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema led volunteers at Dirba in packaging relief supplies, reiterating that no flood-hit family would be deprived of essentials. He highlighted that residents contributed from their own incomes, while additional aid, including a truckload of supplies arranged by district veterinary officers, was dispatched to affected areas.
In Nangal and Sri Anandpur Sahib, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains personally inspected embankments and, for the third day in a row, took command of rescue operations to fill a breach near Lakshmi Narayan Mandir at Nangal Dam. He assured that he would remain on the ground until relief work is complete.
Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO dispatched medicines, food, and animal fodder from Jandiala Guru and met flood-injured residents in Ajnala constituency, pledging all assistance.
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond reached Gulaba Bhaini in Fazilka district by boat to distribute aid, while voicing concern over the Centre’s delay in announcing immediate relief despite Punjab battling floods for nearly a month.
Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal inspected embankments along the Ghaggar in Lehragaga and Moonak, thanking villagers for their cooperation and assuring round-the-clock government efforts to prevent further breaches.
In Majha, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar distributed relief in Patti constituency, joined by Darbar Sahib Head Granthi Giani Raghbir Singh, while aid was extended to Dhussi Bundh villages including Gharum, Kuttiwala, Basti Lal Singh, Ghullewala, Sabhran and Radhalke.
Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian toured flood-hit villages in Lambi constituency, promising full government support.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh distributed medical kits, directed ASHA workers to run door-to-door awareness drives, and urged residents to use helpline number 104 for emergencies.
The Punjab Government reaffirmed that ministers and officials will stay on the ground until relief and rehabilitation work is fully achieved.
