Chandigarh, October 25, 2025: Today, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgaj was ceremonially honored as Jathedar for the second time. Prior to the ceremony, he paid his respects at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
Earlier in March, during the Hola-Mohalla celebrations, the Shiromani Committee had conducted his first turban-tying ceremony at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib. However, several Nihang Singh groups, Taksals, and Sikh community organizations had opposed the appointment, citing violations of tradition, and refused to endorse it. This had led to tensions and boycotts by certain Sikh factions during ceremonial honors.
Despite these challenges, Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami worked diligently to resolve differences. After extensive discussions with representatives of Nihang Singh groups, traditional service societies, and community organizations, a consensus was reached to approve the appointment of Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgajj.
Following this agreement, the Shiromani Committee organized today’s second turban-tying ceremony at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, officially confirming his role as Jathedar.
Addressing the gathering, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gurgajj thanked all Sikh factions and emphasized unity, stating:
“The Panth is great and will remain great. I bow before the Panth not once, but a thousand times. I have always tried to serve the Panth. Today, the coming together of all factions at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib shows that challenges facing Punjab and the Panth can be overcome through collective support. With the cooperation of all, even issues of religious conversions can be addressed. I am a humble sevadar and will always remain so. Our community is united, and there are no divisions. I thank Guru Granth Sahib Ji and all Sikh factions for their support.”
