Amritsar (Punjab), November 16, 2025; Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a sharp attack on the Shiromani Akali Dal during a press conference in Amritsar on Friday, alleging that party president Sukhbir Singh Badal “used gangster elements” during the Tarn Taran by-election.
Dhaliwal claimed that the Akali Dal fielded a candidate in Tarn Taran who had links to relatives of gangsters, accusing Sukhbir Badal of “betraying the people of the border region” by awarding such a ticket. He further alleged that the AAP candidate was threatened by Akali leaders during the campaign.
According to Dhaliwal, the bypoll saw “widespread intimidation” by Akali workers in several villages. He alleged that the party resorted to “hooliganism” throughout the election process and tried to scare local supporters of AAP.
Extending his criticism to the broader political landscape, Dhaliwal urged voters not to fall for the “false promises” of the Akali Dal, Congress, or BJP. He said people in Tarn Taran had voted in the name of development, and that the ruling AAP government had delivered significant progress during its more than three years in power.
Highlighting achievements, Dhaliwal stated that the AAP government had brought major improvements in healthcare, education, and the power sector, benefiting people across Punjab.
