Youth trained in fire safety and disaster management at SBS State University
Ferozepur, November 18, 2025: Day 3 of the Yuva Aapda Mitra Training at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBS-SU) was marked by high enthusiasm and active participation, as trainees underwent intensive fire safety and disaster preparedness exercises. The training is being conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the District Administration, Ferozepur.

As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, the programme is being implemented under the guidance of Colonel Dalbir Singh, General Manager (Disaster Management), MGSIPA.
During today’s session, participants received hands-on demonstrations on earthquake response, protection from heat waves and cold waves, drought management, and fire safety. Trainees were trained in emergency handling techniques, rescue methods, and essential safety measures to effectively respond to real-life disaster situations.
The training team comprised experienced instructors, including Amarinder Singh, Captain (Retd.) Jasvir Singh, Aman Mankotia, Sumeet Singh, Mahikpreet Singh, Jasvir Singh Pipli, Johnson, Narinder Singh, and Ramandeep Singh, who delivered practical lessons through multiple modes of demonstration.
A firefighting demonstration and drill was conducted by the Fire Station Officer Fateh Singh and his team, equipping trainees with practical skills to tackle fire-related emergencies.
The primary objective of the training is to prepare youth as first responders during disasters, enabling them to contribute effectively to community safety and relief efforts.
