Sri Anandpur Sahib (Punjab), November 22, 2025: A robust, technology-driven security grid comprising 300 high-resolution, AI-enabled facial recognition CCTV cameras will maintain round-the-clock surveillance in Sri Anandpur Sahib as lakhs of devotees gather to mark the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. This was disclosed by Rupnagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gulneet Singh Khurana here on Saturday.
Outlining the elaborate security arrangements for the three-day event from Sunday to Tuesday, SSP Khurana said a state-of-the-art command centre has been set up as the central hub for all monitoring and coordination.
“This modern control room is linked to a vast surveillance network, including 300 AI-powered facial recognition cameras, 10 Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras for dynamic tracking, and 25 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras positioned at all entry and exit points,” he stated. The electronic security layer is further strengthened by seven specialised drone teams providing continuous aerial surveillance across the city.

To ensure swift coordination and efficient management, the holy city has been divided into 25 security sectors. “Each sector functions as an independent security unit equipped with its own sub-control room and help desk, all feeding real-time video and intelligence inputs to the main command centre,” SSP Khurana added.
For crowd and traffic regulation, the district police, in collaboration with IIT Ropar, has deployed real-time digital mapping of all parking zones. “This system offers live occupancy updates, guiding devotees and streamlining traffic to avoid congestion,” he said. Round-the-clock shuttle bus services will also operate between parking areas, venues and tent cities to further facilitate pilgrims.
The SSP confirmed that a large police contingent has been stationed across the city, with senior officers conducting constant on-ground supervision. “Our personnel have been instructed to perform their duties with utmost sensitivity, humility and devotion, keeping in view the sanctity of this historic occasion,” he said.
