Chandigarh, December 1, 2025 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, issued a strong statement on Monday, asserting that the Akali Dal is committed solely to safeguarding Punjab’s interests. She clarified that the party has no inclination to either form or break alliances unless they align with Punjab’s welfare.
“We stand firmly with Punjab. We are not interested in forming or ending alliances for political convenience,” Badal said. “Akali Dal will align only with the party that ensures Punjab gets its rightful dues.”
Her remarks come a day after former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh advocated for the revival of the Akali–BJP alliance, stating that such a partnership would be essential if the parties aim to form the government in 2027.
Meanwhile, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema launched a sharp attack on Captain Amarinder, labelling him a “BJP agent” following his comments on the alliance.
Punjab Congress president Raja Warring also reacted strongly, saying Captain’s statement confirms what many already believed. “Everyone in Punjab knows that the BJP has no future in the state. It may have taken him some time to realise this, but it’s clear now,” Warring said.
