Chandigarh, January 4, 2026:AAP Punjab Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu launched a scathing attack on SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, accusing him of siding with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) rather than standing for justice, truth, and the Guru Sahib.
Responding to Dhami’s recent press conference in Chandigarh, Pannu highlighted Dhami’s statement expressing pride in being a “soldier of the Akali Dal,” saying, “It would have been better had he been a soldier of Guru Sahib.”
Pannu criticized the SGPC for failing to recover the 328 missing Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and questioned the acceptance of resignations of accused individuals despite the directions in the Ishar Singh report. He also demanded that Dhami disclose his hidden diary containing details of beadbi cases and missing Saroops, emphasizing that the truth cannot remain buried indefinitely.
The AAP leader raised several pointed questions:
- Why is SS Kohli being protected and why has the SGPC failed to recover money taken from Guru’s Golak?
- Why did SGPC fail to trace the 328 missing Saroops and allow accused resignations despite clear instructions?
- What happened to the free-to-air SGPC Gurbani channel ordered by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib?
Pannu rejected Dhami’s claims about SGPC being above the law, noting that FIRs have historically been registered when convenient for the committee. He also cited the Kotkapura firing and past sacrilege incidents, criticizing SGPC for inaction and selective accountability.
On the government’s push for justice in beadbi cases, Pannu stated that a strict law is being framed with inputs from all parties to ensure perpetrators face the severest punishment. He also warned that forthcoming investigations, including SIT probes, would uncover hidden details related to SS Kohli and other linked controversies.
Concluding his attack, Baltej Pannu challenged Dhami to answer honestly in his next press conference: “Why have you hidden your diary containing critical details of beadbi cases and the 328 missing Saroops? Stand with justice and truth. Be a soldier of Guru Sahib, not of the Badal family.”
