Sukhbir Badal granted bail in 8-yr-old case

Chandigarh, January 17, 2026:Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was on Saturday granted bail by a Chandigarh district court in an eight-year-old defamation case.
Sukhbir Badal appeared before the court, which allowed his bail in the matter dating back to 2017. The case was filed by Rajinder Pal Singh, spokesperson of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha and a resident of Mohali.
The complainant had approached the Chandigarh district court alleging defamation under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Code. Further proceedings in the case are awaited.
