Ferozepur, January 2, 2026: : In a commendable display of prompt responsiveness and commitment to public health, Civil Surgeon Dr Rajiv Parashar personally conducted a late-night surprise inspection at Civil Hospital Ferozepur following a patient's complaint about inadequate treatment.
Acting immediately on the initial phone complaint from an admitted patient regarding proper care not being provided, Dr Parashar issued necessary directions to hospital officials. When the issue persisted and a follow-up grievance was received, he reached the hospital late at night to assess the situation firsthand.
During the thorough check of the Emergency Ward and Labour & Delivery Ward, several deficiencies came to light, including lapses in duty by some staff members and failure to fulfill responsibilities effectively. Taking serious note, Dr Parashar summoned the Senior Medical Officer to his office the next day for accountability.
The Civil Surgeon made it clear that strict action will be taken against any officer or employee neglecting duties. Emphasizing that providing better healthcare services to patients remains the government's top priority, he stated that no negligence would be tolerated.
To address identified gaps, measures include plans to overcome the shortage of security guards and seating arrangements for patients' attendants. A meeting held today at the Civil Surgeon's office directed the provision of a new ECG machine and mandated daily rounds by the Senior Medical Officer along with nursing staff in key wards, including Labour & Delivery and Emergency. The Deputy Medical Commissioner will conduct weekly inspections, and an on-call duty register for specialist doctors in the Emergency Ward will be maintained to ensure seamless care.
Dr Parashar's proactive initiative underscores a strong resolve to enhance patient-centric services and accountability in government healthcare facilities.
