Over 100 drivers attend ‘Road Safety Workshop and Eye Screening Camp’
Ferozepur, February 1, 2026: In a significant move to bolster student safety and promote responsible driving, the Mayank Foundation – a leading NGO dedicated to road safety measures - organised a comprehensive Bus Drivers’ Orientation Workshop and Eye Screening Camp at Shahid Ganj Public School, Mudki. The school, which houses the largest fleet of school buses in the Ferozepur district, served as the venue for the initiative conducted with the support of Principal Sanjeev Jain and the school management.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 school bus drivers. The primary objective was to update the staff on the latest traffic regulations and the stringent penalties associated with road safety violations.
The workshop sent a clear message - student safety begins with the person behind the wheel.
During the interactive sessions, a team of experts, including Ashwani Sharma, Lakhveer Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Deepak Mathpal, Sandeep Sehgal, Deepak Sharma, and Kamal Sharma, engaged with the drivers. They emphasised that disciplined driving and constant road awareness are non-negotiable when the safety of school children is at stake.
Ashwani Sharma delivered a detailed presentation focusing on understanding visual cues for better navigation. A specific advisory was issued urging drivers to maintain a safe following distance between vehicles to prevent rear-end collisions, and drivers were instructed to drive in a single-file queue, especially in congested areas, to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
Simultaneously, a medical team from Kalia Eye Hospital conducted professional eye screenings for all participants. The foundation stressed that healthy vision is a fundamental prerequisite for road fitness and accident prevention.
"Aware drivers, healthy vision, and responsible behaviour are the three pillars of student safety. We are committed to ensuring every driver behind the wheel of a school bus is both physically fit and mentally prepared," said founder Mayank Foundation.
The event concluded with a formal Road Safety Pledge, where drivers vowed to obey traffic norms in letter and spirit.
