Chandigarh, February 4, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing the party of indulging in “illogical claims” and reducing politics to confusion and confrontation.
Calling Congress a “tweet master party,” the Chief Minister said it survives on rhetoric rather than results, while asserting that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is steadily expanding its footprint not only in Haryana but also in Punjab and Bengal.
Addressing a press conference, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the Congress lacks any roadmap for development and has confined itself to reactionary politics.
Remarking that “Congress sirf tweet master ban kar reh gayi hai” (Congress has been reduced to merely a tweet-master party), he highlighted the contrast between social media noise and on-ground governance delivered by the BJP.
The Chief Minister strongly criticised the Congress for what he termed as irresponsible, half-baked and misleading politics over the Union Budget. He said the opposition has neither read nor understood the budget and is opposing it merely for the sake of opposition.
Describing it as the second budget of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi–led Government 3.0, he said the budget aims at strengthening Viksit Bharat and is comprehensive and reform-oriented for the country’s 140 crore citizens, including 2.80 crore people of Haryana. He added that the opposition began making baseless allegations even before the budget presentation was completed.
Nayab Singh Saini said that when the opposition fails to counter facts, it resorts to protests just to “mark attendance.” Some Congress leaders, he said, rushed to Twitter midway through the budget speech claiming Haryana received nothing.
“At least wait for the budget to be fully presented,” he remarked, adding that there appears to be internal competition within Congress to please Rahul Gandhi.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s past statements, the Chief Minister said that during his visit to Kurukshetra, Rahul Gandhi made illogical remarks, including questioning whether the Pandavas had imposed GST. Such statements, he said, reflect the seriousness and understanding of the Congress leadership.
The Chief Minister strongly objected to claims that “Haryana is missing from the budget” or that “the government is missing,” terming them as cheap and irresponsible politics. “Congress thrives on virodh politics, while BJP focuses on governance,” he asserted.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that during Congress rule, budgets were limited to “revdi culture,” whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently presented development-driven budgets. He said the three budgets under the Modi government have significantly strengthened infrastructure, adding that discussions on development are now taking place across the country, even within Congress households.
He further alleged that Congress opposes the budget not due to ideology but to remain in headlines. “This is not a budget for show, it is a budget for reforms, but Congress lacks the understanding to grasp this,” he said.
Responding to allegations that Haryana received nothing, the Chief Minister said that during Congress rule, budgets never reached the poor. “People heard populist promises but got nothing. Under Modi ji, the budget is not alluring but reform-oriented,” he said, also criticising Rahul Gandhi for symbolic gestures in Parliament instead of constructive debate.
Warning against the spread of misinformation, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that “tweet masters” should refrain from misleading the public or risk losing whatever credibility remains. He questioned Congress leaders on agricultural allocations during their tenure, stating that it stood at only Rs. 25,000 crore, compared to Rs. 1.62 lakh crore under the Modi government.
The Chief Minister said the nation has rejected Congress and continues to give strong mandates to governments led by Prime Minister Modi. He accused the party of habitual lying and lacking both policy and intent, adding that nearly 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty under the present government.
On allegations that the budget offers nothing for youth, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the government’s vision is to make youth job creators, not job seekers. “There should be a limit to lying. Congress needs training on how much one should lie,” he remarked.
Praising infrastructure development, the Chief Minister said that in matters of road construction, the Prime Minister works with exceptional speed and vision. “India has today even surpassed the United States in road infrastructure,” he added.
