Bathinda, February 7, 2026:
In a significant development for the health sector of Punjab, the state government has launched the 'Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana,' which is being hailed as a historical milestone. Mandeep Kaur Ramgharia, Senior Vice Chairman of the Ramgharia Welfare Board expressed optimism about the scheme, emphasizing its transformative potential for the people of Punjab.
Under this ambitious initiative, every resident of Punjab will now have access to free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh annually. The scheme aims to ensure that no individual, whether from a poor or middle-class family, is denied medical treatment due to financial constraints. "The medical treatment of any poor or middle-class family will not halt due to financial limitations. This scheme ensures that every Punjabi has access to quality healthcare without worrying about the costs," said Mandeep Kaur Ramgharia.
One of the key highlights of the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana is its inclusivity. The benefits of the scheme are not restricted to government hospitals alone but are extended to empanelled private hospitals as well. This ensures that patients have access to a wider network of healthcare providers, further enhancing the quality and reach of medical services under the scheme.
Moreover, the scheme is designed to be free from any form of discrimination. "There will be no caste, creed, or political discrimination in this scheme," Ramgharia emphasized. Every resident of Punjab, irrespective of their background, will be eligible to avail of its benefits.
Another noteworthy aspect of the initiative is its direct payment mechanism. Patients availing treatment under this scheme will not be required to deposit even a single rupee at the hospital. All expenses will be directly borne by the Punjab government, ensuring a hassle-free and dignified experience for beneficiaries.
This groundbreaking initiative reflects the Punjab government's commitment to prioritizing healthcare and addressing the financial barriers that often prevent families from accessing timely medical treatment. It is expected to bring relief to countless families across the state and significantly improve health outcomes.
The launch of the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana marks a new chapter in Punjab's healthcare journey. By providing financial security and access to quality healthcare for all residents, this scheme is poised to leave a lasting impact on the lives of millions and set a benchmark for other states to follow.
As Punjab takes this monumental step forward, it reinforces the belief that accessible and affordable healthcare is not just a privilege but a fundamental right for all.
