UP resident among 2 linked to organized narcotics network held in Gurdaspur
11 kg heroin, Rs 5.7 lakh drug money recovered

Gurdaspur (Punjab), February 7, 2026: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a drug free state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Gurdaspur Police has busted two organized narcotics networks with the arrest of two operatives and recovered 11 kg heroin and Rs 5.75 lakhs drug money from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.
Those arrested have been identified as Mohammad Wasim, a resident of Qasimpur, Muzzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and Harshdeep Singh alias Harsh, a resident of Amritsar. Apart from recovering heroin and drug money, police teams have also impounded their white color Honda City car (RJ45CR2918) and Hyundai Verna car (CH01AZ0888), which they were using to smuggle narcotics.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigations have revealed that arrested accused persons were indirectly in contact with Pak-based handlers through their handlers in India. Further investigation is underway to trace forward and backward linkages of the network, he said.
Sharing operational details of first case, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurdaspur Aditya said that in an intelligence led operation, accused Harshdeep Harsh was arrested with 8 kg heroin and Rs 3.5 lakhs drug money from near village Chitti in Gurdaspur, when he was going to deliver the heroin consignment in his Verna car.
In another similar operation, the SSP said that accused Mohammad Wasim was arrested at Naka near Paniyar Sugar Mill in Dina Nagar. During the search of his Honda City car, heroin packed in six packets, weighing 3 kg, and Rs 2.25 lakhs drug money recovered, he said.
He said that further investigations are ongoing and more arrests are likely in coming days.
In this regard, two separate cases— FIR no 32 dated February 7, 2026 under sections 21c and 27A of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dinanagar and FIR no 11 dated February 7, 2026 under sections 21C and 27A of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dorangla— have been registered.
