Health Dept launches TB-Free India 2nd campaign, identifies 142 high-risk villages
Ferozepur, February 16, 2026: The Health and Family Welfare Department, on Monday launched the second phase of the TB-Free India Campaign in Ferozepur district. The campaign was formally inaugurated at the Aam Aadmi Clinic Khai Feme Ke.
Under the directions of Civil Surgeon Dr Rajiv Parashar, a special X-ray screening camp was organised as part of the second phase. The camp was inaugurated by Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Sushma Thakkar and District Immunisation Officer Dr Meenakshi. District TB Officer Dr Satinder Oberoi, SMO Dr Rekha (Mamdot), Dr Poonam Jindal, Dr Ravneet Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ankush Bhandari and BEE Aman Kamboj were also present.
Dr Meenakshi informed that 142 high-risk population villages have been identified in the district. In these villages, health department teams will conduct door-to-door TB screening of every individual. X-rays and diagnostic tests will be conducted, and patients found positive will be provided complete treatment. She appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to health teams to ensure the success of the campaign.
District TB Officer Dr Satinder Oberoi said that during the first phase of the campaign, a 100-day drive was carried out in which suspected TB patients were identified, tested and treated. In the second phase, comprehensive screening will be conducted in all identified high-risk villages. The Mass Media Branch and TB Branch of the Civil Surgeon’s office will also intensify awareness campaigns across the district to identify TB cases, screen economically weaker sections and reduce TB-related mortality, with support from the district administration and other departments.
Radiographer Sukhvinder Singh, Senior Assistant Shakti Dhawan, Harminder Pal Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Darshan Lal (MPHW-Male) and MLT Rajesh Kumar were also present at the occasion.
