CIA seizes drone-linked over 6 kg heroin, nabs repeat offender
Ferozepur, February 19, 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the CIA staff of Punjab Police, Ferozepur, has arrested a drug smuggler – a repeat offender and recovered drone-linked 6 kg 038 grams of heroin. The action was taken under the NDPS Act as part of the ongoing campaign against narcotics.
Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SSP informed that a follow up on the in-put was going on and working on the the police team, led by Mohit Dhawan, In charge CIA under the tutelage of Manjit Singh, SP(D) and Sukhwinder Singh, DSP City was conducting naka checking near the Ferozepur–Mallanwala road on February 18, 2026, when a suspicious person was intercepted. During the search, 6.038 kg of heroin was recovered from his possession, arranged through the drone, as per the information. The accused has been identified as Jaswinder Singh (29), a resident of Ferozepur district, presently on bail and doing nothing. A case under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered at the concerned police station on February 18, 2026.
SSP said that the accused has a criminal background and several cases are already registered against him, including those under the BNS, NDPS Act, and Arms Act at Ghall Khurd and Ferozepur City PSs under Arms Act, and NDPS ACT AT Mohali for recovery of 500 gm heroin.
He said the police have initiated further investigation, with backward and forward linkages, to ascertain the source of the recovered contraband and to identify other members of the drug supply network.
The SSP said that wrongdoing inevitably leads to serious consequences. He appealed to the youth not to resort to illegal shortcuts to earn money, but to choose the right path and make an honest living by upholding moral values. He emphasised that the police focus remains on punishing those involved in drug trafficking and confiscating properties and assets created through illegal activities.
Responding to a query, the SSP reiterated that crime never goes unpunished and urged young people to stay away from unlawful means of income. He affirmed that the Punjab Police is fully committed to eradicating the drug menace from the border district and ensuring strict action against all individuals involved in the drug trade.
