Chandigarh, March 17, 2026: A political war of words intensified in Punjab on Tuesday as Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Chief Spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party Punjab, launched a sharp attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal over the appointment of Kanchanpreet Kaur as Tarn Taran constituency in-charge.
Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal alleged that the move has exposed what he termed as Badal’s “political model” for Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. He claimed that unlike other political narratives such as development-based models, the Akali leadership is promoting individuals with controversial backgrounds.
Targeting the Shiromani Akali Dal, Dhaliwal said that if Sukhbir Badal has the courage, he should announce candidates in all 117 Assembly constituencies to reveal the true nature of his leadership and political strategy.
Escalating his criticism, Dhaliwal accused the Akali Dal leadership of allegedly rewarding individuals linked to past controversies, including sacrilege incidents and other serious allegations. He further alleged that the party has deviated from its core values and is now functioning as a group focused on financial interests rather than public service.
Dhaliwal also claimed that many loyal workers have distanced themselves from the party, leaving behind a weakened organisational structure. He asserted that the people of Punjab will reject such politics and will not support leaders associated with corruption or misconduct.
