Chandigarh, March 21, 2026: Senior Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira has demanded the immediate registration of a criminal case against Punjab Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, alleging his involvement in the mental and physical harassment of a warehousing official who later died by suicide.
In a strongly worded statement, Khaira claimed that Gagandeep Randhawa, associated with the DM Warehousing Corporation, was allegedly subjected to assault and sustained harassment by the minister and his associates.
Randhawa had named Bhullar in connection with the alleged torture before taking the extreme step. The Congress leader has urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Director General of Police, Punjab Police, to take swift action in the matter.
He called for the immediate arrest of the minister, warning that failure to act would raise serious concerns about the impartiality of law enforcement in the state.
Khaira also alleged that if no action is taken, it would reinforce perceptions that the police machinery is being misused for political purposes, particularly against opposition voices.
