The Uttar Pradesh government has officially appointed LV Antony Dev Kumar, a 1994 batch IPS officer, as the new Director General of Police (DGP).
This marks the end of a four-year period during which the state relied on acting DGPs, with the post remaining unfilled since 2022. The state government has now approved his permanent appointment.
LV Antony Dev Kumar hails from Tamil Nadu and brings a wealth of experience to the role. He holds a Master's degree in Political Science and History and has previously worked with the Special Security Force (SSF) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
His extensive background is expected to contribute significantly to his leadership as Uttar Pradesh's top police officer.
