Martyrs’ Day observed with patriotic fervour at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University
Ferozepur, March 23, 2026: A solemn and inspiring function was organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University to commemorate Martyrs’ Day, paying rich tributes to the nation’s great freedom fighters.
The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, while noted scholar and President’s Award recipient Dr. Rameshwar Kattara graced the occasion as the chief guest. The programme was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. K. Sunil Bahl, Coordinator of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Society, and Ms. Navdeep Kaur Jhajj, Co-Coordinator, who also anchored the event effectively.
The ceremony began on a spiritual note with Gurbani Kirtan rendered by Sanamdeep Kaur. Gauravdeep Singh delivered an insightful speech highlighting the life and ideology of Bhagat Singh. A moving poem recited by Nishu and soulful singing by Anmoldeep Singh captivated the audience.
Cultural performances added vibrancy to the programme. A choreography titled “Pranam Shaheedan Nu” by Alamjeet Singh Sandhu and team evoked patriotic emotions, while a mime act “Kurbani Di Goonj” by Mayank Parmar and team beautifully portrayed the sacrifices of martyrs. A skit presented by Lovepreet Singh and his team also drew appreciation.
At the conclusion, the Vice-Chancellor and the chief guest honoured the participating students and staff members with mementos and certificates. The event ended with the National Anthem. A large number of faculty members, staff, and students were present on the occasion.
