Punjab Government Scraps Fees for FIR Copies

Coinciding with these high-profile legal proceedings, the Punjab Government has withdrawn the fees to be charged for downloading FIRs.Rs 80 per FIR was supposed to be paid per FIR.
Department of Good Governance and Information Technology issued a new notification today, March 25, 2026.It has officially withdrawn all charges for obtaining copies of FIRs. Key changes include:
Zero Fees: No charges will be levied for downloading FIRs from the Sanjh Portal.
Free Physical Copies: Applicants will no longer be charged for obtaining copies of FIRs from Sanjh Kendras.
It may be recalled that two advocates had challenged the order of the government to charge fees for providing FIR copies.
