Wanted Politician Arrested in Mohali ₹13 Crore Fraud Case; FIR Also Filed Against Wife

In a major development, Mohali Police have arrested an active politician in connection with an alleged fraud case involving more than ₹13 crore linked to a real estate businessman. An FIR has also been registered against the leader’s wife and another associate.
According to police officials, the accused, identified as Rakesh Kumar Soman, is an active figure in politics. He was earlier associated with BSP and had even been declared a candidate during the Lok Sabha elections. Later he joined AAP.

- The case pertains to an alleged fraud of over ₹13 crore involving a real estate businessman.
- The complainant has accused the AAP leader of:
- Threatening him using political influence
- Issuing threats of implicating him in false cases
- Allegedly invoking fear of gangster links
- Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against:
- Rakesh Kumar Soman (alias Rocky)
- His wife Baljeet Kaur
- Associate Vikram Suri
Charges include cheating, criminal breach of trust, and criminal intimidation, officials said.
Police confirmed that the main accused has been taken into custody, while further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged fraud and involvement of other individuals.
The accused has reportedly been active in politics and had switched affiliations before joining AAP, adding a political dimension to the case.
The victim alleged that he was pressured and threatened by the accused, who reportedly tried to use his political standing to influence and intimidate him.
