Breaking: India issues travel advisory urging citizens to leave Iran amid tensions

New Delhi, April 8, 2026: Despite a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, the Government of India has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Iran. The new advisory urges Indians to leave the country as soon as possible, citing heightened security concerns.
The advisory emphasizes that citizens should stay in touch with the Indian embassy, avoid crossing international borders without proper permission, and use only the recommended routes while exiting Iran.

Earlier, the government had advised Indians in Iran to remain in safe locations for 48 hours as a precautionary measure.
