Mathura Boat Tragedy: Two more bodies recovered, death toll rises to 13

Jagraon (Ludhiana), April 12, 2026: The death toll in the boat capsize incident in the Yamuna river near Vrindavan has risen to 13 after the recovery of two more bodies on Sunday, officials confirmed.
Two pilgrims whose bodies have been recovered have been identified as Dinky and Rishabh Sharma. Search operations are still underway for three missing persons as rescue teams continue efforts along the river stretch.
The accident took place on Friday afternoon near Kesi Ghat in Vrindavan when a boat carrying more than two dozen tourists capsized after reportedly hitting a floating drum of a pontoon bridge. Most of the passengers were pilgrims and tourists from Punjab.
Officials said a majority of the victims belonged to the Jagraon and Dugri areas of Ludhiana district, deepening the grief in the region as families await news of the missing.
