Chandigarh, April 14, 2026: In a significant policy shift, the Central Government has revised the recruitment rules for the Bhakra Beas Management Board, allowing officers from across the country to apply for its two key positions.
The changes have been made through amendments to the BBMB Rules 1974, altering the eligibility criteria for appointments to the board’s top posts. With the revised rules in place, selection will now be based on merit, opening the door for candidates beyond Punjab and Haryana.
Earlier, the rules mandated that one officer each from Punjab and Haryana be appointed to these positions. This state-specific requirement has now been removed, marking a departure from the previous framework.
