The legislation has been introduced amid long-standing demands from religious institutions, community groups, and sections of the public for stronger safeguards against repeated incidents of sacrilege in the state. Officials said the move is intended to ensure deterrence through stringent legal provisions and faster accountability mechanisms.
With the notification now in force, authorities will begin enforcing the provisions of the Act against offenders under the updated legal structure.
