Ferozepur sees strong protest led by MLA Bhullar as AAP workers rally against defection of Rajya Sabha MPs
Ferozepur, April 26, 2026: Amid rising political tensions in Punjab, widespread protests erupted across the state on Saturday as workers of the Aam Aadmi Party staged demonstrations against the reported defection of seven Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The protests, held in multiple districts, reflected growing anger among party cadres who termed the move a betrayal of public trust.
As part of this statewide agitation, a massive gathering of AAP workers was held at Ferozepur under the leadership of AAP MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar.n Demonstrators carried placards labeling the defecting MPs as “traitors” and raised slogans condemning their actions.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar said the issue was not merely political but a serious breach of the faith reposed by the people. He alleged that those elected under the AAP banner had later abandoned the party for personal gains, thereby hurting the sentiments of the people of Punjab.
He further demanded strict action against the concerned MPs and stressed that they must be held accountable for their decisions. Warning of intensified protests in the future, he said such incidents would not be tolerated.
AAP leaders also stated that the alleged defectors had not only betrayed the party but also every Punjabi who had hoped that these representatives would raise state issues in Parliament and work towards resolving public concerns.
