Chandigarh, May 1, 2026: Punjab Congress President and MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Friday criticised the state government over its decision to convene a one-day special Assembly session, alleging political motives behind the move.
Warring claimed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann initially intended to introduce a confidence motion and used Labour Day as a pretext to secure the government’s stability for the next six months.

He further pointed out that the plan was later dropped, with a fresh communication stating that no confidence motion would be introduced as it coincided with Labour Day.
Questioning the government’s intent, Warring said that if it was genuinely concerned about workers, it should focus on improving their conditions, particularly by increasing wages, which he said remain low in Punjab.
