Climate Media Programme at Chandigarh University tresses responsible reporting on environmental issues

Mohali (Punjab), May 6, 2026: The I J Doda Foundation organised a Climate Media Leadership Programme at Chandigarh University, focusing on promoting accurate and responsible reporting of climate-related issues.
The programme was conducted under the Environment Education Programme with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology.
The one-day event saw participation from journalism students, faculty members, and young media professionals. Sessions centred on data-driven reporting, understanding climate challenges, and effectively communicating environmental concerns to the public.
Held under the guidance of Satnam Singh Sandhu, the programme featured expert insights from Dharminder Sharma, Jonita Doda, and senior journalist Vijay Brar.
Speakers highlighted key environmental concerns facing Punjab, including rapid groundwater depletion, rising air pollution levels (PM2.5), and river pollution affecting public health and agriculture.
Jonita Doda underlined the role of media in shaping public understanding, stating that the way climate issues are reported directly impacts awareness and policy decisions, making responsible journalism more important than ever.
The event concluded with strategic dialogues on state-led startup ecosystems, industry-CSR collaboration, and aligning incubator support with startup ambitions, marking a significant step toward collective action for innovation in North India. AIM SUMVAAD was instrumental in fostering knowledge exchange, strengthening collaboration and facilitating insightful panel discussions on scaling state-led startup ecosystems and strengthening the synergy between host institutions and incubators to drive transformative progress, reinforcing the vision of Viksit Bharat through localized action and strategic partnerships.
Hosting this prestigious event also underscored the institution’s commitment to promoting grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship in the state through its incubator, ACIC RISE Association, CGC Landran, backed by NITI Aayog, which has incubated more than 135 startups till date offering mentorship, funding, networking support to aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs to set up, build and scale their ventures/ startups.
